Since then, we have continued to promote excellence in the teaching and learning of chemistry and related sciences. Through our digital and in-person outreach, we provide creative, fun and inspiring spaces to explore chemistry, discover its potential as a subject, and recognise those who are using chemistry to make the world a better place.

As the Head of Education, you will take responsibility for:

  • The leadership of the Salters’ Company’s Education team staff.
  • Working with the Institute Board and Senior Management Team to develop the strategic direction of the Salters Company’s education activity and acting as the Secretary of the Institute Board.
  • Working with Institute Board members in the development, review and delivery of key education outreach programmes (Festivals of Chemistry, Chemistry Club, Public Programmes and the Choose Chemistry Residentials).
  • Working with members of the Institute Board to deliver and review Salters’ Awards.
  • Collaborating with the Head of Development, responsible for industry partnerships, to integrate industry professionals and resources into the Company’s educational programmes to advance the Institute’s mission.
  • Being the Salters’ Company’s education ambassador, identifying opportunities to promote its work, especially focusing on its impact on young people.

To qualify as the Head of Education, you must have demonstrable experience of:

  • Leading or developing impactful and effective education outreach programmes
  • Experience of measuring and communicating the impact and outcomes of education outreach to attract funding.
  • Experience of working with industry in delivering educational programmes.
  • Relevant Higher Educational qualification, e.g. chemistry or related sciences.
  • Works effectively with a team, fulfilling the demands of their role and building strong relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrates strong influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience of public speaking.
