I am a Salter

Learn how you can champion and celebrate the flagship charity of the Salters' Company.

As a member of the Salters’ Company, your support of our work is invaluable.

The Salters’ Institute is an incredible organisation that makes a real difference in the lives of learners young and old, and the educators who empower them. Our focus on chemistry and related sciences enables our beneficiaries to see chemistry as part of the solution to many of the challenges we face nationally and globally.

We want you to be part of this transformative work. There are many ways you as a member of the Salters’ Company can get involved with our innovative programming.

We offer tours of Salters' Hall, garden and archives to the general public. If you are a member of the Salters' Company and are interested in becoming a tour guide, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch with Sheila, our Public Programmes Manager, at [email protected].

Filming Opportunities

Do you work in a field related to chemistry or a related science? We’d love to film your place of work and learn more about your role so that we can showcase the different career paths to which chemistry can lead. These films are for secondary school students, are around 2-3 minutes long, and involve a half day of filming and there is no cost to you or your employer.

Come to a Festival of Chemistry Discovery Day

Our Festival programme includes one-day in-person events, called Discovery Days, at universities across the UK.

Discovery Days are engaging and educational. They comprise a careers panel, a hands-on chemistry practical in a university laboratory, and a key note address from an inspiring speaker. We aim to encourage students to get excited about chemistry, and inspire and motivate them to continue with their study of chemistry as part of their academic journey.

James Stephenson won a Salters’ Graduate Prize in 1995 and today is a member of the Salters’ Company.
