Apply for the Porter Prize

The Salters’ Institute is now accepting applications for the Porter Prize, an award to fund a 1st or 2nd year undergraduate student through a summer research project in chemistry.

The Salters’ Institute understands the critical role research plays in solving important and long-term problems, and how young people can be change agents. This award has, therefore, been created to support students bring their research ideas to life by funding a summer research project with a strong chemistry focus.

This award recognises and supports one 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students who demonstrate a curiosity and drive for research. The prize winner will be provided with £3,000 to fund their proposed research project.

The deadline for applications is Monday, 25 March 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview at Salters’ Hall on Monday, 29 or Tuesday, 30 April 2024.

The Porter Prize has been created in the memory of Lord George Porter OM, FRS, FRSE and Dr Andy Porter who were drivers of change through their research, and is made possible through the generosity of the Porter family.
