Graduate Awards are for final-year undergraduate students studying chemistry and chemical engineering across the UK.

Awards Programme

Our Graduate Awards celebrate candidates that demonstrate the ability to become leaders within their chosen field.


Candidates are expected to:
  • be predicted to obtain a First-Class Honours Degree in either chemistry or chemical engineering
  • show passion, skills and motivation to lead and shape the UK chemical or related sectors
  • demonstrate the ability to communicate and motivate others
  • show some knowledge of the current chemical industry and the need for future innovation
  • have a willingness and ability to participate in the Institute’s activities and join our network of future leaders

Selection Process – now open for applications.

Nomination Form

The Heads of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Departments at universities in the UK may nominate one candidate. It is therefore advised that universities undergo their own selection procedure before nominating a candidate for the Salters’ Graduate Award.

Candidates should complete the application form (Section A) which must be supported by a reference from the Head of Department (Section B) and pay special attention to the criteria listed above. Candidates must also submit a C.V. with their application.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the Salters’ Hall for interview by a range of panellists from industry. Candidates will be asked to produce a 3-minute video discussing a current topic within the chemical industry, related issues and potential solutions.


Salters’ Graduate Awards 2024 are now open for applications. The deadline for applications to the Salters’ Institute is Tuesday, 7 May 2024. Interviews will take place on Tuesday, 9 and Wednesday, 10 July 2023 at Salters’ Hall for those who are shortlisted.
